The Spanish Fine Wine Offering

'Fine Wine' is a bit of a loaded term, let's face it. It conjures the idea of exalted, venerable wines from famous appellations. Expensive, possibly a bit dusty, only for the discerning; people who really know what they're talking about, or at least do a very good impression. And probably French? Well, yes of course part of that's true (at least the French bit, perhaps) but France isn't alone in making wines that overtake the senses, make you stop in your tracks when you taste them, wines that massively over-deliver. And that's what 'Fine Wine' means to us - wines that are the very essence of what happens when extraordinary terroir, fastidious work in the vineyard and loving care in the winery come together to produce something that is much, much more than simply a product of the land. These are emblematic wines, made from tiny yields that will reward both drinking now as well as cellaring for years to come. These are not wines for everyday drinking, as the prices clearly illustrate, rather they are wines for special occasions, or perhaps even to bequeath - if you're really disciplined.

And so here's an offer of wines, that are truly fine, from Spain.

Spain ? What's this? Rioja ? Nope. Beyond that famous DO there's a multitude of producers doing extraordinary things in regions as disparate as Toro and Toledo, as well as the mighty Ribero del Duero, dubbed 'the Bordeaux of Spain'. We sell the 'regular' wines from these guys & gals everyday in the shop, but every once in a while there's an allocation of their top stuff - so this, boys and girls, is therefore a rare opportunity to grab some bottles that will blow your minds.
